What could be worse?

1.2 million Iraquis dead.

They are free now.

One hates to be terribly cynical, but there seems to be no way out.

Except to leave.

Already there are 1.2 million dead.

2 million displaced.

"If you leave, it will be terrible!"

What is it now?

We warned you.

So we shouldn't have liberated Europe form the Nazis because many people died in the process?

That is your logic. Many died so that future generations could be free. But your logic says it wasn't worth it? Ask the Germans, or the French, or the English of today.

Need something more than "people are dying for freedom" to make a war not worth it.

We told you it would be long and difficult.

*To be clear, I'm not saying we should fight any war and any cost is OK as long as its "for freedom." I'm merely responding to your logic.

1.2 million is quite a serious number when Saddam's real threat was, what?

What was his death count in the, say, five years before we invaded?

What is the death count going to be when we leave?

World War II ultimately cost tens of millions of lives. Iraq is simply picking up the pieces of WWI. WWI can be blamed for WWII. Millions upon millions, blood upon blood.

At some point, yeah, I say stop. Let's see what happens with peace and non-violence.

If millions of people of conscience rose up against Hitler how long his reign? Once Hitler died, or was murdered, how long would the Reich last?

I'd also argue that notion of who is exactly "free" as a result of this war, privatepigg.

"We" - if by we you mean Americans - didn't enter WWII until they were "attacked" by Japan. So the ideology of "Great Liberator" is really flimsy given a balanced look at history.
